Each year, American School & University magazine publishes an Architectural Portfolio to recognize outstanding education architecture, design and construction. Western Kentucky University’s Downing Student Union was awarded “Outstanding Design” in the Post-Secondary category.
WKU’s Downing Student Center building underwent an extensive expansion and renovation last year as a part of WKU’s ongoing master plan. The new DSU features a three-story atrium, new public entry, food court, large auditorium, student activity spaces, study areas, meeting rooms, student organization offices and the campus bookstore.
