SUMMARY
The Staff Electrical Designer is a member of a Project Team and provides basic drafting/design skills to prepare documents for assigned projects. This designer shall be familiar with electrical design of commercial and industrial buildings including power distribution, lighting, and low voltage systems. The designer will work closely with Engineers, other designers, and Project Managers.

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Assists staff and senior designers/engineers in the development of construction plans.
- Understands the design and document preparation process.
- Develops an understanding of client needs.
- Learns basic electrical system design.
- Draws plans and details on CADD and REVIT.
LEADERSHIP
- Limited client contact.
- Self-motivator that will excel career path with educational opportunities.
- Mentor and train employees as needed.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Associates Degree and a minimum of four years’ experience in electrical design.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Contact Management systems; Design software and Project Management software.
- Advanced AutoCAD skills.
- REVIT experience strongly preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Not required for this role. LEED accredited or other professional certifications preferred.

The position requires use of computers, vehicles, design and general office equipment. The position does intermittently require a daily physical effort in the form of visiting existing facilities and observing pre-existing conditions of equipment and mechanical systems.
