Wild Turkey – Visitor’s Center
The Wild Turkey Visitors Center is a new 5,000 square foot building located near the site of Wild Turkey’s Distillery. This space is designed to be the show piece of Wild Turkey Bourbon serving as a direct point of interaction with consumers.
The architectural vision for the building presented unique design challenges for the mechanical and electrical systems. There are no ceilings; everything is open. Through close coordination with the architect, Kerr-Greulich Engineers, Inc. hid all of the mechanical and electrical systems from plain sight. This was accomplished through extensive 3D modeling and point of view analysis.
As with all projects, budget was a prime concern in constructing the Visitors Center. KGEI completed life cycle cost analysis and system comparisons in order for the owner to select the best systems for the Visitor’s Center and recognize energy savings as well as initial cost savings.
Highlights of KGEI’s design include:
- Dedicated outside air unit ensures the building is well ventilated, while limiting humidity and energy use of the building.
- Light design is truly exceptional; a combination of decorative fixtures, recessed fixtures and up-lighting accentuate the Visitor’s Center.
- All mechanical and electrical systems are hidden, so as not to detract from the architectural beauty of the facility.
