Lincoln Homestead State Park – Restoration and Repairs of the Mordecai Lincoln House
Lincoln Homestead State Park, located in Springfield, Kentucky features the original home of Abraham Lincoln’s Mother, along with the home of Mordecai Lincoln, Abraham Lincoln’s Uncle. The Mordecai Lincoln House is located across from the golf course on its original site. This two-story historic home houses artifacts from the original construction era. Kerr-Greulich Engineers designed the plumbing, mechanical and electrical systems for this historic renovation project.
Highlights of KGEI’s design include:
- Complete renovation of all piping and plumbing fixtures, including upgrades to meet current codes including ADA compliance.
- A state-of-the-art geothermal HVAC system was designed. In order to maintain the historical integrity of the structure, careful coordination of the system with the architecture of the house was required.
- The historical house also included complete rewiring of the electrical distribution system utilizing the existing main feed and panel.
- Additionally, strategic placements of particular receptacles were necessary within the lighting design due to the involvement of plug-in lamps.
